Special Icons on Glass
The large icons on glass don’t represent a separate category, by they differ from the other icons by their size, special compositions or atipical forms.
The models in this category are characterized by complex, miniature painting, done with small and very soft brushes, in oil, having different Byzantine or Gothic influences, depending on the model.
As for the other icons, the painting is done in the mirror starting with the drawing of the margins and continuing with the drawing of the model. For the accentuation of certain areas, like the halos of saints, than a thin golden foil is added.
The frames of the icons are handmade and patinated.
