Romanian Icons on Glass ...

Welcome to Heliocraft. My name is Doina Flesariu and my primary occupation is painting icons on glass.

I invite you to go through the pages of this site where you can find my works such as orthodox icons on glass, painted in different styles, non religious decoration objects, as well as objects specific for certain season such as Christmas, Easter or the coming of spring celebrated by the Martisor.

A first type of glass icons is represented by the traditional icons, originating in Romania, the Transylvania area, characterized by a naïve, cheerful drawing dominated by simplicity and equilibrium.  

You will also find glass icons hand grafted to the smallest detail, with complex models, having diverse influences from the Byzantine, Gothic, Armenian style, representing different biblical scenes or Christian Saints.

At the same time on this site you will be able to find handcrafted products for decoration or specific to a season or a Holliday, such as martisoare, manually painted on glass or done from different fabrics.   

All products presented on this site are done by hand. For this reason certain models which are not in stock are executed after ordering and the production and delivery may take up to a few of weeks depending on the complexity of the work. This is the exact case of the icons on glass whose creation involves not only the painting of the glass, the drying of the paint, but also the production of the frame. 

Because all products are hand crafted the colors may differ depending on the mood I was in during the making. My request is that you take the colors from the images as presentation only, having the confidance that the work you will order in the end will be at least as beautiful as the presentation image on the site. The frames are also hand crafted so there may be small variations in size.

If you would like, pictures can be made and sent to you of the ordered product before delivery. 

In the case of the Martisoare, taking into consideration that they are made a long time before 1 Martie, all the presented models are already available. 

Besides the products presented, there is also the possibility to produce on request other personalized handcraft items for different events or special occasions.
